Vision systems were first introduced at MG in 1991, today specialized sophisticated
vision systems are developed by MG's in-house vision systems department. Multiple
high-definition cameras with mega-pixel optics, telecentric lenses and image sensors
capture visual information. Dedicated vision software is used for the comprehensive
computer-based evaluation of this information.
For the past 10 years, dimensional control systems were advanced to ensure that
deviations are reliably detected and to permit precice, contact-free inspections,
even of challenging aspects. Adaptive surface control systems scan our products for
cracks, scratches or airlines in defined areas.
Our main objective is not simply to detect and sort out defects - using our vision
systems, we want to understand what causes defects so that we can prevent them
in future.
